Just a sample of what I have been working on for the past year for my final project with Egg Story Digital Arts School. I did lots more artwork of course, but that's for another time and place.

Matte Painting Exercise
A little unfinished. This was probably the most challenging assignment we were given by our matte painting instructor.
Last of Light and Mood
A little late posting these, but here are the last of my light and mood studies assignments. Will try to continue practising and posting more in future :)
For the next two pics, we were given the outline and screenshots from other similar parts of the film, and had to colour them to match the mood, lighting and colour.
The last one is a coloured version (my interpretation) of Mike Mignola's black and white inkwork.

A Little Piece of History
I chanced across this old picture I did of King of Fighter's Benimaru on someone's website. Can't remember how old it is, but possibly around a decade old. I did a bunch of KOF illustrations then including Kyo, Athena, Iori, Kensou, Shingo and probably more, but I don't think I have any soft copies now since my Zip disks got corrupted. Pity. The pencil artwork is probably somewhere around.

Even More Light and Mood Studies!
A couple more light and mood studies updates. Assignments are getting more interesting and challenging :)
The following assignment was most interesting. We were given the outline, a colour palette for different parts of the picture, a sketch of the lighting in the scene, and had to come up with the whole painting without a reference screen shot:
We only got to look at the original screenshot some 2.5 hours into the painting. But by then, I had completed most of it using a pastel custom brush in Photoshop. Here's my take on it: (See if you can find the original screenshot!)

Fishing for the Monster Marlin
Somewhere in the dense jungles and deep lakes and oceans of the world are unexplored regions where strange creatures of myth and legend may live undiscovered...
Looking at this guy with his rod, what could be going through his mind?
If he were a monster hunter, I can think of only one word: "BINGO!"

Light and Mood Studies - Exercise 1
We were given 2 minutes to look at a picture/photo and try and replicate it in Photoshop from scratch (ok, at least he gave us a rough outline) in about 2.5 hours. I think after a while, our instructor realised most of us did not have photographic memories and let us refer to the picture. This is as far as I got.

Theo Cartoons
I'll be finishing my animation training in a few months' time and have recently started searching for animation companies online. Came across this small animation company that produces Gospel cartoons the old 2D way. Looks real cool!
